War widow wins £20,000 in accident compensation from badly installed radiator

Pensioner and war widow Mrs. Margaretta Lewis has won £20,000 personal injury compensation after a badly installed radiator fell from its brackets and left her trapped and in considerable pain and agony for 24 hours.

The serious accident left Mrs. Margaretta Lewis with a fractured hip, broken ankle and serious burns to her leg. Mrs. Margaretta Lewis commented, "It just knocked me flat over and I couldn't remember anything for a while. I was knocked out. I came to about a couple of hours later. It was 2am when I came to. I was in so much pain. My legs were underneath the heat and they were all burnt. I was awake for the next ten hours lying in agony. My leg was broken and my hip was in agony."

Her successful claim for accident compensation was against the plumber who repaired the radiator who was negligent in failing to fit the item properly. His insurers agreed to pay Mrs. Margaretta Lewis £20,000 in accident compensation in an out of court settlement.
