Protecting Child Passengers from Serious Injuries in Car Accidents
Thu 25th Jun 09 - 9:54

A new survey from Which has revealed that parents are still confused about car seat rules and therefore unknowingly putting their children at risk of serious injuries in car accidents.

The survey found that over a third of parents underestimate the age or height at which a child can travel in a car without a car seat or booster seat.

The current law states that parents must use an appropriate child restraint (baby seats, car seats, booster seats or booster cushions dependant on age and height) when carrying all children up to 135cm (4ft 5in) or until they reach their twelfth birthday. For more information on the type of seat required, ensuring seats are fitted properly and to see the full law explained, go to www.childcarseats.org.uk
