Investigation launched into Blackpool Rollercoaster Accident
Wed 12th Aug 09 - 7:14
The Health and Safety Executive are to investigate a fairground accident at Blackpool Pleasure Beach after more than 30 people were injured when two cars on the famous Big Dipper rollercoaster collided.
Their injuries ranged from minor injuries to more serious broken bones, whiplash and back injuries. Two teenagers needed surgery after being cut from the scene by fire officers.
One of the passengers commented, "We were aware that there was going to be a problem as soon as we set off because the other rollercoaster seemed to be stuck, but we didn't think it would be a serious thing."
The accident follows another tragic incident at Blackpool Pleasure Beach when an 11 year old boy fell from another ride to his death.
