Beware Of Accident Claims Text Messages

There have been further warnings on scam compensation claim text messages sent out to mobile phone numbers alerting users to the possibility that they could be owed compensation for an accident. They are general messages sent randomly with many mobile phone users having not even had an accident.
The messages are along the lines of: "Our records indicate you may be entitled to 3750 pounds for the accident you had. To claim for free reply YES to this message. To opt out text STOP."
A spokesman from Vodafone commented, "This is definitely a scam. It's likely that it is the start of a phishing scam that often will attempt to extract personal financial information."
