£7,500 Trip Compensation From Council
Sat 1st Nov 08 - 13:26

Freeclaim injury solicitors have helped a lady claim £7,500 in compensation from her local council after she tripped over a flagstone in 2005.

As a result of the fall on the pavement, our client fractured her left leg and developed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). The local council initially denied liability and stated that a contractor had caused the defect. The contractor in turn then blamed the council and said that the flagstone on which the lady tripped was the responsibility of the council.

After considerable challenges by Freeclaim Solicitor Mark Grist, the council eventually backed down on the tripping compensation claim, admitting responsibility for the unfortunate accident, and paid our client £7,500 in personal injury compensation.

Mark Grist, Freeclaim personal injury lawyer, commented after the case, "After a lengthy legal battle with the council who were trying to blame another party for the tripping accident, I was thrilled to secure compensation for my client. I was pleased that the client used part of her compensation award to take her sister on holiday, after her sister had taken a month off work to take care of the client after the accident."

Councils have a duty to ensure that pavements and public highways are safe for public use. They also have a duty to ensure that pavements and roads are maintained in a reasonable condition. Unfortunately, trips, slips and falls are quite common accidents.

These are complex compensation cases and therefore we would advise that you consult a specialist personal injury solicitor straightaway. Freeclaim compensation solicitors can advise you on whether you have a trip or slip claim. Call today on 0800 24 34 09 or you can also contact us online.
